FAQS about Excess Protection for Motorbike Insurance

How Does Excess Protect Work?

Excess Protect costs £49.99 in addition to your insurance premium and will cover your insurance excess in the event of a claim being greater than your policy excess. If the excess is £500, the cover will pay out £500 – it’s as simple as that! Excess Protect can also reduce your insurance premium. Usually, when you’re filling out the form to get your online quote, the higher the excess, the cheaper the insurance. If you choose the highest insurance excess but cover that excess with our Excess Protect product, you could save a significant sum on your insurance premium. If you save more than £49.99, you’ve covered your costs.

Are there any limitations to Excess Protection?

Excess Protect does have a few limitations, including:

  • Claims made more than 30 days after the insured event
  • Excesses paid out on claims under warranty, damage to glass or the windscreen, theft or attempted theft, or excesses already covered by the motorbike insurance
  • Using the motorbike on a racetrack or on a circuit
  • Drivers under the age of 19

For the cover to be valid, the driver must be named on the insurance policy and be over the age of 19 with a full UK driving license.

How do I add Excess Protect to my insurance policy?

Our motorbike insurance excess protection product is a top up product that you can purchase on top of any of our insurance policies: fully comp, third party fire and theft and third party only. It costs £49.99 annually, in addition to your insurance premium. If you’re just adding the product to your current insurance policy simply give our Quote Line a call on 0345 872 3614 to buy it over the phone.

If you need to buy an insurance policy, fill out our online quote form, including details such as your location, occupation and the make and model of your bike. We’ll then provide you with a number of quotes from some of the UK’s best motorbike insurers. Alternatively, you can give our Quote Line a call on 0345 872 3614 – just ask about the Excess Protect cover whist you’re on the phone.
