£75,000 limited-edition Lamborghini edition of V4 S Superbike released
Factory-special Ducatis are becoming like buses it seems – none for a while, then loads of them, all at once. Just a few weeks after we saw the Tricolore Italia special edition Panigale V4S, the Bologna firm has released another tricked-up superbike, this time as part of its Lamborghini cars tie-in.
The posh factory custom machine was shown off at a special event – The Art of Unexpected – in Teatro Alcione, Milan, during Milan Design Week, the leading event in the design world.
That partnership, which has produced two previous Lamborghini/Ducati mashups – a V4 Streetfighter and a Diavel 1260 – is a natural one: both brands are owned by the performance arm of the German Volkswagen Audi Group, so have deep family ties.
Indeed, since Lamborghini is an unashamed supercar brand, it’s maybe a surprise that the firms didn’t go for a superbike special sooner.
But it’s here now – and it looks pretty sharp. The slightly tenuous link this time is with the Lamborghini Revuelto, the car maker’s first hybrid petrol/electric supersports car, which it says sets ‘a new benchmark in terms of performance, on-board technology and driving thrills’.
It puts out a mind-melting 1,015hp in total, produced by the combination of a new V12 petrol engine and three super-powerful electric motors, driving through an innovative dual-clutch transverse gearbox. It’s made from carbon fibre and other ultralight materials giving it the best weight-to-power ratio in Lamborghini history: 1.75 kg/hp.
That means a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of just 2.5 seconds, and a top speed of over 350 km/h (220 mph). The price? Nearly £450,000.
But enough about the silly car – what about the bike? Well, the base is the 2025 Ducati Panigale V4 S, an awesome machine, with the latest Öhlins semi-active suspension, updated frame with dual-sided rear swingarm, Ducati’s latest cutting-edge electronics, and WSBK-developed aerodynamics.
The 216bhp base engine is enhanced with a dry clutch kit (with optional open ventilated cover for track use) and a special titanium/carbon Akrapovic exhaust, which gives an extra couple of bhp – now up to 218.5bhp instead of the stock 216bhp.
On the chassis front, the Lambo-gale comes with forged aluminium wheels which save a bit of rotating unsprung mass over cast rims, and the bodywork is all in carbon fibre. Those mods save a total of 2kg, giving overall figures of 185kg wet with no fuel, and that 218.5bhp peak power.
It’s a solid package – though we’d probably like to see carbon wheels instead of forged aluminium, and maybe the fancy Brembo Brake Pro+ big-disc/GP4 SP calipers brake setup as seen on the Tricolore specials. An Akrapovic full race pipe giving even more power wouldn’t go amiss too.
The special stuff is more about the styling of the Lamborghini machine though: the fancy paint and seat which use the designs of the Revuelto, the one-off startup animation, the numbered plaque on the top yoke and the engraved ignition key.
Bespoke cover, delivery wooden crate, fancy paddock stand, certificate of authenticity – it all comes with the bike. As it should do of course, considering the price: a cool £75,000. A bargain for Lamborghini owners, no doubt, who are able to buy one of the 63 extra-special versions, which will be painted in the official Lamorghini paint scheme of your choice.
The rest of us will have to fight it out for one of the 630 ‘normal’ Pani-ghinis which will be delivered in September.
