MV Agusta’s gorgeous retro-race-replica gets Euro5 overhaul, and a new ‘S’ version for 2021
We’re big fans of the MV Agusta Super Veloce. Taking the firm’s awesome F3 800 triple engine and running gear and putting it into a classic retro package is a genius move. The Super Veloce looks amazing and also offers a unique performance option – a torquey 147bhp motor in a sporty 173kg chassis.
For 2021 then, the firm hasn’t changed the basic recipe too much. The 798cc engine gets new valve guides and DLC-coated tappets, uprated big-end and main bearings, plus a new clutch basket and updated oil cooler, all aiming to cut friction and improve reliability. Revised exhaust headers and a new silencer design helps achieve Euro5 emissions compliance while keeping the power at the same 147bhp as before.
The steel trellis/cast alloy frame has revised swingarm plates for better chassis stiffness, and the electronics package is updated, with a new cornering ABS/Traction IMU unit, launch control, wheelie control and cruise control. The new rider aids package is accessed via new switchgear and a 5.5” colour TFT LCD dashboard display.
So – the Super Veloce looks to be better than ever, on paper. But the firm’s also unveiled a new ‘S’ variant of the classic racer. The Super Veloce 800 S features gorgeous gold spoked wheels and an Alcantara seat, and Agusta has also developed a race kit with a new Arrow race exhaust, remapped ECU and Alcantara pillion seat cover.
The Super Veloce ‘S’ is available in white/matt gold only, and the standard SV comes in Ago red/silver or yellow/graphite. The EU price for the base bike is from €20,700, the ‘S’ version starts at €23,600. More info on UK price and availability as we get it.
