Suzuki RV125 VanVan Bike Overview
Produced from 2003 to 2017, this retro styled 124cc machine is ideal for a new rider or fans of smaller engine bikes.
The VanVan 125 looks the part as a small, vintage alternative to a scooter or moped. This bike is often used by race teams to get around the paddock; and it is clear to see why. The pocket sized motorcycle is cool, small and nippy… perfect!
As well as this, it is very comfortable, which may come as a surprise given the size, and is extremely easy to handle. The somewhat basic brakes and suspension do the job required, although can be seen to struggle at times on the open road.
A major plus point of the RV 125 VanVan is the running cost, with cheap insurance and parts, this bike is easy to maintain – as long as journeys are short and sweet.
Priced at £3,149, this motorcycle can be seen as rather costly for such a small bike, although there is certainly a market for such a distinctive retro styled machine.

Pros
Big tyres a lot of grip and comfy seat
Cons
The power but it’s only a 125 so it can’t really improve

It had a very comfy big seat
Never had any problems so far
Good grip as there are big tyres
It is slightly heavy but it drives smooth
It is only a 125 so not that powerful
It’s only a small tank but lasts enough to get to work and back for a week

The retro funky style
Cons
Very slight increase in top speed

The seat on the VanVan is incredibly comfortable and so is the seating position. You can move back or forth on the bike to find the best position for your height
Build quality is fantastic and the engine is extremely robust and will last a very long time with plenty of miles
The breaks work very well, plenty of bite in the front brake and plenty in the rear to keep you stable. There's no fancy combined braking system, just a disc at the front and drum to the rear
It's a great light weight bike, really smooth through the gears. However the big tyres can feel somewhat strange in the corners but once you're used to it it's a blast.
The bike is only a 125cc with I think 11 bhp, which sounds slow but for the purpose of the bike it's an ample amount of power, and still so much fun
The fuel tank holds 6.5L, which is about £7 to fill to the brim. I can get about 120mpg around town which is superb! Insurance was also cheap for a beginner on a CBT at only £400 a year
Pros
In my opinion the best part about this bike is the retro beach scrambler styling that really separates this small cc engine bike from most other things in the large market.
Cons
Performance would be one thing I would improve if I could as even though it's a 125 it can be sluggish on larger roads.

The large seat looks comfy at first however after longer rides can become uncomfortable but has plenty of room for a pillion.
The bike is built like a tank. Never broken down on me the only faults it has had are minor electrical which were fixed in seconds.
Never had a problem with brakes handles even emergency stops with no effort. However slightly older style drum on rear.
The large rear tyre helps the mono shock suck up the bumps in the road it's very comfortable over any surface even down green lanes. It's surprisingly light for its large appearance and corners great despite the large rear tyre.
While around town it can easily hold the speed limits as soon as you get on to a larger road it can take a while to get to speed and struggles to reach 55. However it's a 125 so have to adjust expectations.
This can run forever on £5 worth of petrol and even if it's your very first bike, with Devitt, it's very easy on the wallet to insure too.
Pros
It’s the perfect bike for a learner. You won’t find better!
Cons
If they make a bigger engine model eg 600 for VanVan lovers who have passed their tests!
