Moto-Guzzi V85TT Bike Overview
Italian firm Moto Guzzi has a decent heritage when it comes to quirky adventure bikes – its V65 TT was doing the dual-sport adventure bike thing back in the mid 1980s. And it sold the massive Stelvio 1200 adventure tourer from 2007-2016. Both bikes stuck with the firm’s trademark air-cooled transverse V-twin engine layout, with shaft drive, in a tall offroad-styled chassis.

The V85 TT is its latest offering though, and makes a nice compromise between the V65TT and the Stelvio 1200. It uses Guzzi’s current 853cc V-twin engine, putting out around 80bhp, in a retro-styled soft-adventure chassis. The engine is pretty low-tech for a 2019 model, with two pushrod-operated valves per cylinder, and air-cooling. But for this type of bike, that’s no real hardship to be honest.
It’s a really nice bike to ride – the old-school motor gives great power delivery, and the 80bhp is enough for 100mph+ cruising. The top fairing is quite small, and you might like a bigger screen for touring work, but it makes for a handsome machine.
There’s a smattering of nice technology: a lush colour LCD dash, cruise control and basic traction control, plus an optional Bluetooth function to link your phone to the bike. Add some luggage, and you’ll have a cool, retro-funky middleweight adventure bike that’ll take you great places in style…
