Ducati Monster 796 Bike Overview
A middle of the range bike the Monster 796 might be, slotting comfortably between the Monster 696 and the Monster 1100 but this is not a bike which should be overlooked. The 796 manages to combine the perfect balance of power, is fairly cost-effective whether you are looking to buy new or second-hand, is incredibly easy to ride and is pretty smart to look at too. What more could you want from a Ducati Monster?
The 796 is the ideal bike for those who want to move out of the ‘first-timer’ category but aren’t yet ready to handle the power of something huge. The medium sized V-twin engine in the 796 has plenty of torque and provides enough horsepower that you feel able to hold your own with even occasional impressive bursts of power.
There have been occasional complaints that the 796 isn’t easy to start but once it gets going you will be treated to the pleasing sound of a Ducati Monster engine. There have also been some issues with loose mirrors which is worth getting checked out, particularly if you choose to purchase a 796 second-hand but aside from these few niggles this is a bike which is considered to be a good option for those not so novice riders looking to take their biking to the next level.
It’s the type of bike which you can usually find for a good price second-hand too so always worth exploring if you want to upgrade but don’t want to fork out for a 796 brand new.

Owner Reviews
Pros
An excellent street fighter , Carrys a strong brand name and a hell of a torque curve. The sound of the vtwin is a real head turner , plenty of compliments
Cons
The placing of the indicators , Mrs's little brother took one off on his push bike

Flows very well through corners, lightweight and easy to manoeuvre (on private roads)
After a shaky start with a backfire and engine cut out, the bike warms up and is torquey, powerful and puts you to the back of your seat
The placing of the indicators , Mrs's little brother took one off on his push bike
A brand known for unreliability - not any more, brembos which allow you to stop of a 5p piece and single sided swing arm engineering
Quality brakes, brembos which are reliable, responsive and most of all you can trust them
Pros
The sound, this literally sounds like a monster!
Cons
You are pushed into the tank and if you are male then this can be rather…unsettling.

This bike is fun to ride. Great handling, not great for stop and start traffic but hey, you're on a bike so who worries about that! When you get going the ride is unfailtable.
With a 800cc engine his bike can move with some power.
