BMW K1600GT Bike Overview
Impressive is a word which springs to mind when talking about the K1600GT bike from BMW. This is a truly spectacular bike which has been designed to be fast touring bike. It has three riding modes: Rain, Road and Dynamic and the fuel-injection system and impressive i-drive technology allow you to fluidly change mode with ease. There is even additional technology you can purchase with the bike which will change the riding mode automatically.
There is no getting away from the fact that the K1600GT is a big bike but thanks to the 1600 six-cylinder inline engine you simply don’t notice that weight at all. This is a bike which is steeped in power and is one of the smoothest rides you will ever have the luxury of experiencing. The noise from the motor alone would be enough to sway even the most die-hard of bikers and that’s before you try it out on the open road. Even then, the K1600GT is a bike which is equally at home in the city as it is on the motorway, and works well as an all-rounder with the occasional touring trip.
The K1600GT is not a cheap bike; prices start at just under £15,000 for a standard model but with even the basic bikes coming with equipment such as central luggage locking, electronically adjustable screens, i-drive systems and TFT technology, these are some of the most sophisticated bikes on the market. Add into that the fact that BMW’s in general holding their value well; this is more of an investment than anything else.

Fantastic engine, low down inline six cylinder provides smooth swift handling of corners
Sublime, sounds great, response, super smooth, buckets of power.
Regular services costs at BMW dealer are reasonable. May be a lot more expensive when I get to the big service that covers valve clearances though.
No problems touch wood with this bike but a bit concerned it is now out of the warranty and if anything was to go wrong it is likely to be costly. Bike regularly serviced so fingers crossed.
Considering the weight of such a beast the brakes are excellent.

Pros
Have yet to find fault in my bike. The comforts of a nice car with the exhilaration of riding a bike. The BMWK1600GT.
Cons
Shame it's not a tad lighter. Good move putting reverse gear on newer models.

For a large machine you expect weight. Once moving the bike is a doddle to handle in traffic or bends. Can be a bit of a hand full to push around on uneven surfaces. Power is instant and continual. The modes can change the bike from a smooth gliding machine to a super handling bullet of a bike. In the right hands I think many a sport bike owner would be impressed by this bike.
Grand router fully loaded or speedy day trip the performance and requirements can be changed with the flick of a switch.
Only need one service a year so costs are not mega. I do have a BMW warranty which costs about a £1 a day but gives me total peace of mind whether at home or in Europe. Fuel consumption can be 50mpg but twist the throttle considerably more costly.
Solid faultless machine as you would expect from BEN.
Great stoppers. ABS spot on without being intrusive.
Pros
Has everything you could want for mile munching touring
Cons
Smoother transmission
