Aprilia Tuono 1000 Bike Overview
The Aprilia Tuono 1000 is great fun – and with higher specs than its previous model, including the trick Ohlins suspension kit, you’ll feel like this is a supermoto when you’re riding on it. It looks similar to other Aprilia models, but it still has a lot of character.
The engine has a lot of poke, and great fun to ride around. Not only this, but the engine is known to be reliable so if you’re looking for a bike which will give you many weekends of fun, this could be the one. The Aprilia Tuono 1000 isn’t an everyday roadster motorcycle like a Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer; it’s far more interesting and exciting.
Riding this bike can make you feel very separate from the motor – because you sit up quite high when you’re riding it. This can make you feel detached from the bike and initially this feels all wrong, but you soon get used to it. The handling on this bike is sharp, but if you’re going down a less than perfectly smooth road, the front end can start to shudder. Riding this bike can be thrilling but also hard work!
The Aprilia Tuono 1000 might not hold its resale value as well as its rivals, but it is still a popular model.

Owner Reviews
Pros
The feeling of freedom, impending death, how long will I keep my licence....does my ass look big from behind....grin factor.
Cons
Mirrors. Standard ones look pants and stick out too much. After market purchase required.

Being an unfaired monster, it wants to peel your face on acceleration, which also gives limited protection from wind and rain...however, the warm glow within from the grin factor makes up for it.
Surprisingly, a reliable Italian build... Sshhhhhh.
They work....very well. That's all you need to know.
Sticks to corners like the proverbial you know what to a blanket...but, don't let it make you over confident... Quick shift is as it should be...quick....but only use on heavier acceleration, not in town when you're buying a stamp.
Give it beans, skin graft required...and close your visor otherwise your eyes get pushed to the back of your skull...Animal...!!
Ride it like a push bike and it's very economical. Ride it like it's meant to be, don't stray too far from a petrol station. It's not one for a commuter....but a weekend pick-you-up after a crazy week at work...or home.
Pros
Power and acceleration, looks pretty cool.

Upright position, high wind effect at speed.
Never had a problem.
Brakes well, good stopping power.
Smooth ride, a little wallowy in the corners at speed.
V twin Rotax, good low down torque performance, goes like stink!
A bit thirsty when ridden hard. Overall good value.

Very fun and fast and good cornering
Good all round apart from slow speeds - not slow
Low speed engine smoothness.
No problems so far
Not the best in the world but work fine
Pros
Great torque, great character, great handling. Just about perfect for the road, does everything well except touring due to the tank range. Performance and handling are excellent. Sports bike performance with an easier riding position.
Cons
Could do with a bigger tank for longer range between stops.

Suspension is sports bike firm, but soaks up all but the biggest bumps well.
More than enough performance for UK roads, and enough to embarrass sports bike riders if they aren't paying attetion.
Could do with a bigger tank for longer range between stops.
Big V twin so battery has to work hard to start it. No other issues.
Front brakes are excellent. Rear brakes are a known weakness.
Pros
V twin sound. Fantastic bike but thirsty on fuel
Cons
Could be smoother in traffic.

The engine is big V twin so a bit torqy which works both ways accelerating and decelerating. I do like tbe torque very much. The sound of the engine is amazing but you need to get a proper exhaust system or at least a good slip on like Arrow, Acra, Harris. These bikes need good gas circulation in and out of the engine which cheap mass made exhausts with slim as a worm link pipes can not offer. The bike is arround 200kg which you do not feel when riding at all. It feels very nimble and light as a 600cc sports bike.
As a 990 cc it is not as powefull as modern 4 cylinder rockets but it has more than enough usable power whic will put a smile on your face any time without the need to rev to the sky like the 4 cylinder motors
Itervals between services are really long. Fuel consuption could be better but hey, what is the cost of a grin on your face.
Italian quality is Italian quality. The looks is stunning. Engine is Austrian Rotax so pretty much bullet proof. Suspension is well made and solid quality. Everything is top class apart from the electrical sysytem. The connectors get corrosion and fail, but if you preprep your bike and sort these connectors before they fail you will have a bulley proof machine.
