KTM 690 Duke Bike Overview
While KTM has been renowned for its heavier bikes, the company realised that many prospective customers in the market are into bikes with a little less power and so smartly introduced the KTM 690 Duke.
Its powerful 104 mm bore offers extra torque and power in comparison to earlier models with impressive revving. It is a firecracker that is remarkably light and a dream to handle. The throttle and clutch work seamlessly, switching between modes is a breeze. Its snazzy dashboard works well with the exception of glare in bright light. The use of Metzeler M7RR rubber tires gives the bike good stability and balance in all modes.
Its single cylinder engine gives 65bhp with torque at 50ftlb, while it revs at an unbelievable 8500rpm, while remaining refined and smooth. The quality of components is good, with the bike durable for both off track and city riding. The engine is the latest Euro 4 emission compliant with an additional balancer shaft that cuts vibration. Other features include a better designed ride and pillion set, steering offset, triple lamps, full colour changing dash and a range of slick electronics that add to the character of the bike.
Those who have ridden the earlier models will recall the thrill factor as well as the vibration at high speeds. KTM has ensured to smoothen out the glitches, giving riders a much more comfortable ride without compromising on the power aspect. It offers top class performance while remaining smooth. With excellent braking and smooth WP suspensions, it definitely is worth considering if you plan on investing in a mid-range bike.
