KTM 690 Duke R Bike Overview
KTM’s 690 Duke R is an upgrade on its 690 model and has an increase of 7bhp power with higher torque. Its 654 cc liquid cool single cylinder engine pumps out 71.4 bhp of power.
With upgrades in power, suspensions and graphics, it is a serious contender for best bike in the middle weight segment.
As with its 690 model, the seating is comfortable and upright. When seated at the handle it places the rider in the perfect riding position with the facility to dip either shoulder around corners. Great for negotiating hairpin bends and cruising on the most uneven surfaces in comfort, the upgraded suspensions work well. The forks in the 690 Duke R have softer springs than other models with improved damping that makes them more supple. The rear shock has also improved damping for a comfortable ride.
The bike has a well thought three way selector switch for power options. The standard mode is ideal for riding in city traffic without any lurches. Once you cross the 4500 rpm, the engine roars and gains power. Sports mode is ideal for off track riding and makes the bike relay snappy. The third mode is for slippery or wet conditions and emphasis is more on safety then on performance.
Overall it is a good bike from KTM and it offers both power and comfort. Probably the best single cylinder bike to own in its segment.

So light! Very maneuverable.
Lots of grunt and great off the line
Build quality
Disappointing. Couple of faults, fixed under warranty but frustrating with a brand new bike.
ABS takes getting used to but it's new to me not the bike's fault
