Honda CBR650F Bike Overview
Honda‘s CBR650F is an easy riding sporty bike with a budget price tag. You can ride this bike pretty much everywhere – even take it out for a trip on the continent and you’ll feel safe and taken care of with this bike.
This bike’s bars are about 30mm narrower and set a little lower than the sporty clip ons which this bike comes with. This gives it a sports tourer kind of riding position and overall an excellent ride. You can cruise this bike along at low revs no problem – or open it up and it really comes to life. Of course, it’s not supersport fast, and it does lack some punch but it will serve you well nonetheless.
You’ll get great reliability with this bike. It has a tried and trusted RR engine and the build quality is good for a bike that has been built to a budget.
You can pick this bike up for around £7000 which makes it cheaper than other sports tourer bikes but more expensive than something like the Yamaha’s Tracer 700.
The only annoying thing about this bike is that you don’t get a digital gear indicator, which it really does need. ABS is standard, though and you can pick up a lot of optional extras.

A bit heavy, around 216kg, however can’t feel it when riding it. It takes corrners very well. Only one weak point are foot pegs and steering wheel vibrations, however so easy to get used to it.
Around 90bhp, for me quick enough. Compare to my previous bike which was ninja 300 it is a big upgrade. Much faster and smoother.
Around £280/month servicing. Insurance £310. Road tax £96

Owned for 3 years. Taken it on a two week tour around Europe. Never missed a beat! Comfortable enough for a sports tourer and was a pleasure to ride.

Good all round bike for first sports bike. Cost £7300 there are cheaper alternatives but it’s a Honda so say no more.

Awesome bike very easy to manoeuvre in traffic or at speed. “Corners like it’s on rails” as Julia Roberts once said. I’m 5ft 8inch and 11.5 stone and I can throw it around with no issues and it sticks to the road like muck on a blanket.
My first sports bike. Goes like stink in my humble opinion. Lots of power in every gear and picks up very fast. Loads of power instantly when you need it. I commute on M62 and have never had any issues with power for overtaking. Bike cruises well and will get you past lorries etc with ease.
I commute 40 Miles per day and is a mix of motorway and B roads. I do 240 Miles in 6 days and it cost me around £20 in fuel. My Cb500x did the same for £11 but CBR is twice the Horse Power so not surprised by that. First service is costing £120. Only had bike a couple of months but seems to be nothing to worry the bank manager so far.
Only done 500 Miles since new but seems ok so far. Build quality is what you expect from Honda. Don’t have any issues.
Back break not much cop only use it at low speed or in emergency. Front break is very good. Slows down very quickly with ease no real issues. Breaks are overall very good.

I handles really nicely. There is plenty of power and torque to satisfy a need for speed but is subtle enough for a relaxing cruise.
Engine is great! Like all engines, it requires maintenance but as long as you look after it then it will look after you. Smooth power delivery, enough there to put a smile on your face but not enough to throw you off the seat.

Handling is superb. A little hard over the bumps but that is the compromise for the cornering.
I used to have a CBR600F4i. The CBR650F is extremely underpowered in comparison
I wouldn’t say it’s economical. My previous CBR600F4i was just as economical despite the fact that the CBR650F is supposedly designed for commuting and the emphasis on economy rather than performance.
It’s a Honda. I’ve had three Honda’s and never had an issue with any of them
Braking is faultless. The ABS is a real benefit and it stops quickly
