If you are a first time rider looking for a bike from the Aprilia range, the SX50 could be just what you’re looking for. Like the 125, the SX50 is especially technical. For example, it is a higher cylinder capacity bike and it has a twin cylinder motard engine. It’s fun, it’s easy to use and it provides comfort to riders.

When you’re riding this bike, it may take you a little while to get off the mark. When you get going though, you’ll find it a breeze to ride and it can really gather momentum, even around corners. The gear box is well spaced and although the suspension is non-adjustable, it copes OK with braking.

If you’re looking to buy a second hand version, make sure it’s been looked after well. You’ll find it on the market for around £2000, making it cheaper than the RS50 – although both will offer you the same performance.

As a first time bike it is quite basic, with equipment also being far from exciting. However, generally this bike may just be all you need and could prove a good bike for a nervous or first time rider. It is also particularly good for tall riders.
