Triumph Tiger 955i Bike Overview
This bike has an updated chassis and some great styling; it is a well-equipped road motorcycle perfect for taller riders, but some might think it is a little old fashioned as it has now been superceded by the Tiger 1050.
People who love touring will get on well with this bike, and the motor is capable of covering a lot of miles with hardly any reliability issues at all. In 2002, Triumph revised the suspension which made the ride much firmer on the road.
The Triumph Tiger 955i has a 955cc triple engine with an exhaust and gearbox. It also has a decent enough injection system. Triumph claims that this gives you 104bhp @ 9500rpm. If that’s right, it is one of the quickest trail motorcycles on the road. Don’t try this bike off-road though!
If you have seen one of these bikes for sale, you should look for one that’s been cared for well. If it has, you won’t find many reliability issues. This bike was in production for a long time, so there should be plenty out there on the market to choose from. The later versions of this bike are the ones to go for as they tend to hold their value better.
If you’re after some extras for this bike, look for aftermarket accessories to make touring more comfortable.

Owner Reviews
Pros
Lovely bike, great tourer, try one and see.
Cons
The brakes. Not bad, just not quite a stable as the R1150GS. Can you guess I've owned one?

Handling is good, not as capable as a R1150GS but fun and predictable nevertheless
Lovely torque, bags of it. Fab engine, miles better than a R1150GS
The brakes. Not bad, just not quite a stable as the R1150GS. Can you guess I've owned one?
No major problems
Could be better
Pros
Engine performance, noise and great engine braking. Riding position. Build quality. It can be ridden through the forest (on forest roads) where it can be wheelied and powerslid. It can be ridden fast on the road, with enough performance to enjoy a day with friends on their road bikes. It's a Triumph as well!
Cons
I'd prefer an oil level window to the dipstick.

Superb engine with legendary torque and power delivery. Very easy to ride quickly. Super smooth. It is heavy until ridden. It corners well, I had to change to a heavier fork oil to stop the dive.
Too much power for a trail bike but……it's addictive engine sound when driving out of corners never fails to generate a smile.
I'd prefer an oil level window to the dipstick.
10 year old 18000 miles- no corrosion! Winter strip down revealed no visible wear to the top end, valves all within tolerance. Everything working as it should.
Very strong back and front with excellent feel. As stated above, heavier fork oil has made a massive difference to heavy braking.
Pros
Comfort. Bit soft at the front even after uprated sittings and oil but very comfortable cruising.

Bit squashy on the front
Suspension
Pros
It's a good all round bike but it's basic due to the age of it as the more modern versions have more electronics on like ABS and traction control etc. Fun to ride but not the best looking bike due to the odd shaped fuel tank but a very nice and fun bike to ride if you can get past that. As it's an older bike they are fairly cheap to buy at the moment and would good for someone on a budget or as a second go to work bike
Cons
Looks, which it has in newer models

Really good balance at slow speeds when filtering and surprisingly quick for an adventure bike. Whilst it's good around corners it's not a sports bike but can lean it over quite a bit. Enjoyable ride makes me grin from ear to ear
Nice powerful engine good for safe over takes but not too powerful that it scares you
Quite good on fuel motorway rides or in the countryside where there's less stop start traffic but uses more in built up areas.
I have had bike about a year now and broken down a couple of times due to age related things but easy to sort.
Good brakes but no ABS due to being older bike. I fitted Michelin anekee 3 tyres for better grip on road as I don't go of road
Pros
It's a big comfy bike that you can easily add luggage to go touring , or do a bit of green laning , or even push it in the twisties, Overall good all rounder.
Cons
The front screen needs sorting as there is a fair bit of buffeting. Front forks could use some adjustment , Taking the tank off is a bit long winded ,

THE REAR END IS A LITTLE SOFT WHEN PUSHED HARD, BUT NEVER CAUSED A PROBLEM!
ONLY 105 BHP BUT SMOOTH & GOOD DELIVERY OF POWER , NEVER FOUND IT TO BE UNDER POWERED , JUST NOT SUPERBIKE FAST .
GOOD MPG 40 -45 I'D GUESS , CHEAP INSURANCE , TYRES NOT TOO EXPENSIVE
PRETTY GOOD , ONLY HAD TPS SENSOR IN 3 YRS RIDING . THE FASTENERS COULD DO WITH STANDARDISING AS THERE ARE LOADS OF DIFFERENT TYPES ,
GOOD BRAKES , TWIN POTS FRONT SINGLE POT REAR , THIS MODEL NOT ABS LATER ONES WERE I BELIEVE.
