Special limited edition of retro race-replica inspired by Alpine A110 sports car
Gorgeous bikes are a speciality of Italian firm MV Agusta of course. And its retro-racer styled Superveloce raised the bar even more when it was released last year. Based on the firm’s F3 800 supersport bike, the Superveloce added a round LED headlight, beautiful, sinuous bodywork, classic lines and the usual super-high design and build touches.
A 147bhp three-cylinder engine is fitted into a high-end chassis, with steel tube trellis frame, Marzocchi forks, Sachs rear shock and Brembo brakes. The design is rounded off with MV’s electronics package – 5”colour TFT dash, traction control, cornering ABS, cruise control, up/down quickshifter and launch control. It wore the traditional red and silver paint work used on Agusta’s world-championship winning race bikes through the 1950s, 60s and 70s, and was an instant hit.
And now Agusta has unveiled a special limited edition version of the Superveloce, in partnership with French sportscar builder Alpine. It takes its colourscheme and design cues from the £50k Alpine A110 – a 300bhp mid-engined, rear-wheel drive two-seat coupe. Alpine is a legendary marque in car circles, now owned by Renault-Nissan, and the current A110 pays homage to the original A110 – a successful sportscar and rally racer of the 1960s and 70s.
The Superveloce Alpine Edition is based on the standard bike, but with special carbon bodywork – mudguards, lower fairing, air duct covers and chain cover. You also get black machined wheels and a one-off embroidered black Alcantara seat, while the front mudguard wears the national flags of Italy and France to mark the international partnership.
MV Agusta’s CEO, Timur Sardarov, said, “Many Alpine customers are also big MV Agusta fans, and vice-versa. The Superveloce Alpine will ideally bring the two worlds together, with incredible synergies in terms of design, personality and style. We look forward to this collaboration with one of the most admired brands in the history of motorsport, and are confident that this new, superb limited edition will be met with enthusiasm by bikers and motorsport fans around the world.”
Patrick Marinoff, managing director of Alpine, added: “MV Agusta is a symbol of Italian craftsmanship and excellence that makes motorcycles like no other. Our two brands are driven by the same passion for creating beautifully engineered products and unique emotions for our customers. The Superveloce Alpine is a fine piece of design and technology that makes no compromise on performance and riding pleasure.”
MV is building just 110 of the Alpine Edition, and they’re priced at €36,300, which includes a race kit – Arrow race exhaust, race ECU, cover and pillion seat cowl. More info: www.mvagusta.com.
