Being of a more rotund stature I found the adding of a gel seat improved the comfort significantly. I'm looking forward to a lot of longer journeys this summer now that the virus situation is looking a lot better
Build quality is excellent, from the same Zong Shen factory that assembles a number of other brands including BMW and Harley Davidson bikes. One year old, two services, and not a single thing has needed attention or replacement in that time apart from a very minor paint chip on the rear mudguard at the time of delivery. Lexmoto agreed immediately to replace the part under warranty.
The CBS (combined)system stops the bike well with very good front/rear balance. No excess pull is required and urban riding will need no more than single finger use on the front once you have got to know the bike.
The Michigan is a very tolerant bike, very smooth through the gears and with ample low down torque for a small engine. It is a very light bike at just under 150Kg and will inspire confidence for new riders or those returning to two wheels after a long break.
The 125 engine is restricted by regulations, but is more than adequate to reach adequate cruising speed and with very frugal fuel consumption. I estimate well in excess of 100 MPG
Including fuel and servicing I estimate the average weekly cost of owning this bike, and doing around 3,000 miles a year will be less than £10 a week. Half of that being the cost of road tax and insurance.

The seat is very comfortable with no protruding edge at the back that can be annoying as you sit down. The shape of the seat is also perfect. It doesn't dip too much but just enough so I don't move around too easily if I hit a bump. Pillions probably need a back rest to make it a bit more comfortable. The rider footrests are a good size and foldable, while the pillow has smaller foldable footrests. I've sat on it for hours with no back issues so it's more comfortable than a regular chair.
No issues other than the battery but that's not a build issue. Everything else seems sturdy. Some bits are made of a softer metal than I would have liked or plastic but that's my personal design choice.
The rear break is very soft, good for slowing down gently. The front break makes up for it by being very hard which is great for sudden or emergency stops.
Corners are a bit of an issue since the handlebars dont lock very far but it handles perfectly well aside from that. It's a good weight and height. The suspension has surprised me over some nasty bumps I didn't look out for, making it a much smoother ride than expected.
As a first bike it's great. It hold steady and doesn't go too fast but fast enough to keep up with traffic on any road a learner can go on. I would not buy it to ride on the motorway.

I love the style and the colour scheme of the bike. It jumps out from a row of others it is parked with. Even in this short time I've had other riders on much bigger, more expensive bike, coming over to admire and ask about it. They are surprised at the quality and the price of this. I am not over keen on the handlebars though, I think it is a step too far to have such large bars on a smaller bike such as this. It gives a little too much impression of trying to be something it isn't. And at 830 mm width they are much more than necessary. Changing the bars is going to be one of my first mods. One major downside is the lack of scope for adding luggage. There is not an option of a rack for the Michigan from the manufacturer, which means having to find a specialist rack maker (that is in progress) so I can fit a top box.

Options for different height seat, for taller riders it may not be comfortable for medium to long trips. With having a 30 inch inseam that won't affect me though.

This is a bike more for a lighter person than me, who swerves past bathroom scales on a daily basis. So saying that the seat is a little lacking in the padding department is pretty much unfair to it.
Chinese bikes are rubbish is the usual cry from most people. Well I must say they are wrong on this. The build quality far exceeds what you may expect. Made in the Zong Shen factory, which also makes bikes for Harley Davidson and for BMW, I have yet to find much that is likely to have a short life. The welding on the frame and swing arm is every bit as good as on my 14 yr old Honda scooter, and the finish (powder coating) is excellent. The paintwork on the mudguards and the tank can't be faulted either.
Brakes are linked as EU regulations demand, they are more than adequate.
The Michigan is a very light bike and gives no problem for even the smallest and lightest of riders. With the low centre of gravity I am finding it marvelously flickable and even with only a low number of miles ridden I am thoroughly enjoying it's agility.
It is what it is, I've no doubt the engine has a lot more power than Euro 4 restriction allow it. It's a long stroke engine with ample low end torque. I can't offer any review of top end speed yet with still being in the running in stage. It will be more than fast enough for me though - if I wanted more I would have opted for a bigger engined bike.
Road fund licence is £19 per year and I am paying £60 a year for a two bike policy. Both bikes are 125cc and insured fully comprehensive. Fuel consumption given by the manufacturer is 173 mpg. I have done 300 km on my first full tank of 13.5 litres and expect at least another 100 to 200 km before I visit a petrol station. With a brand new, tight engine I don't expect to get to the stated figure, but whatever it is it will increase as the bike beds in.
