Honda SH125 Bike Overview
The best city scooters are small and lithe, and the Honda SH125 definitely falls into that category. It’s a compact, good-looking little beastie, with upright riding position, and will squeeze into the titchiest of gaps – both in traffic and when parking up.
Under the teeny exterior is a very well developed super-clean green little four-stroke motor. It won’t set the heartbeat racing, but is gutsy enough for a 125, and is positively parsimonious at the petrol pump. Expect an easy 100mpg, with the claimed consumption at a mad 125mpg. Erk! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, electric bike fans.
There’s keyless ignition, USB socket, LCD dash and LED headlight, and you can fit a full face helmet into the underseat storage space. Honda does some decent options too – we’d go for the smart central-locking topbox and the natty clear windscreen for the extra weather and wind protection.
The only downside is the minimal pillion accommodation, but most folk seldom bother with a passenger on a commuter scooter, so probably not the end of the world. It’s a little bit pricier at £3,500 than more basic options from budget brands, but Honda’s reliability, quality and dealer network makes up for much of that.

Very comfortable riding position, I am 6 foot tall and is very comfortable to ride.
I have had three SH125 models and have never had a mechanical breakdown in 15 years. Extremely reliable. The only reason I've not given 5 stars is due to the speedo drive failing, these only last a year or so.
Very good dual braking system.
Takes corners well and very easy to manoeuvre at high or low speed.
It's a 125cc so adequate for my needs. Just about hits 70mph if needed.
A tank of fuel (7 litres, £9 approx) lasts 155 miles so is very economical.
