BMW F800GT Bike Overview
The all-rounder F800GT does exactly what it says on the tin; looking for your next commuter or just something to take on the open road the weekend? Check out the BMW F800GT.
BMW’s F800GT replaced the F800ST model that was released over 10 years ago, the newer F800GT has 5bhp more (90bhp) compared to its older brother, it’s fitted with lightweight wheels and a lowered seat height making it more accessible for the smaller riders out there.
You’re guaranteed comfort and safety from the fairings, screen and standard ABS across all machines. Only weighing in at 213kg, it can make for nimble handling and a great stepping stone if you’re looking to move up to a bigger bike.
The upright riding position with the forward slanting footrests means it can be suitable for riders over 6ft too. BMW offer extras including electronic suspension, tractional control and panniers.

Cons
Rear brake. It's useless

As a twin it's light and nimble. Never feels undersuspended or like it's going to wash out. Excellent suspension but I'm not convinced
It's not superbike level of performance but it's more than adequate for what I need
Frugal and cheap to run. Loses one point due to bmw servicing costs which are expensive
So far so good. No issues
Front. Really strong and good feel. The rear I'm sad to say is barely worth bothering
Pros
Good finish, good quality, nice to ride and very good on fuel. Not really got anything bad to say about it. It's a good lightweight tourer that is largely underrated. A much underrated lightweight tourer. Belt drive and great fuel consumption when ridden sensibly.
Cons
Nothing I can think of. It does everything I want well.

Light bike that you almost think through bends
More than adequate solo and enough with a pillion but not as startling as when solo.
No additional expense but BMW servicing is NOT cheap. This bike stays with the main dealer for servicing though.
Just plain good quality. No issues at all in 2 summers of riding
Brembo discs and ABS makes it a good stopper. If I had to find a complaint it would be that it dives a bit if the front brake is hit first
Pros
Weight, as a over 65 motorcyclist it's very easy to move.
Cons
Handle at position and lower footrests.

Rides like a dream
Fast enough considering what you can do lawfully
62 average mpg.
Usual BMW quality
Never had a more powerful front brake
One comment on “BMW F800GT Bike”
Top speed is 140 (I have a calibrated speedo ex-police F800GT) It has way over 40k on it and runs like new. Easy to ride, economic, comfy, passes anything on 4 wheels with ease.
