Honda CB500 Bike Overview
The Honda CBF500 is a good commuter bike with a decent, quick twin cylinder. It feels well made, reliable and it handles well on the road. Some might say that the Honda CBF500 looks a little bit plain, and yes it doesn’t look anything special, but this doesn’t put us off.
If you’ve never been on a bike before, the Honda CBF500 could be a good place to start. Because it is basic, it is ideal for a novice. It also has ABS braking as an optional extra if you want that extra safety reassurance. The brakes are good and the seat is comfortable too. The Honda CBF500 has a smooth parallel twin motor, which means that commuting on motorways doesn’t cause too much vibration. It has a 19-litre fuel tank, which offers a good range too. Overall, we are quite pleased with this basic little bike.
This bike also has a good reputation for reliability and is very similar to its predecessor, the Honda CB500 twin. This bike is also good for all weathers, handling wet roads well. Let’s not forget that the Honda CBF500 is also quite fun to ride and is a cheap alternative to other, similar bikes.

Fairly smooth, light enough for me. Corners well but I don't do knee down.

On the face of it, just a humdrum commuter/winter hack. But, it has still found a place in my heart. I love it! I have owned this bike for almost 4 years now and have ridden it virtually everyday for the last two (winter, spring, summer and autumn). MCN said it is the first big bike that you will never want to sell and I have to say that sums it up perfectly for me. When I buy something else for everyday use, this will go into semi retirement and still have a place at the back of the shed for the rest of my days.

I am only 140kg, so unlike most reviews I have read which say it is a bit soft, especially the back end, I find it a bit hard. No surprises in the handling, whether you cruise, ride it MX fashion, or hang off the side. pretty good!
Allegedly, built to do 300, 000 kilometers without a rebuild, I can believe it! Still small enough to be good around town, loves A and B roads, would happily sit at the speed limit on M-ways all day
I get about 55mpg I believe. Cheap to insure. Reliable. Typical service intervals.
Like the cockroach, it feels like it will survive a disaster or two. Only thong I have ever thought as a slight negative is, that the chrome on the fork stations is a little thin, otherwise nothing to fault it for. Also, easy to work on when servicing.
Brembo front and rear. Progressive and predictable and with plenty of bite, if you are riding a bit harder too.
